Does Ethics Matter in Science and Technology?

Thursday, March 25, 2021

Venerable Thubten Chodron

Venerable Thubten Chodron, an American nun in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, will present “Does Ethics Matter in Science and Technology” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 6.

This virtual event will be presented via Zoom at https://nic.zoom.us/j/99645967952.

Join Ven. Thubten Chodron to explore how understanding the ethics of non-harming can help us engage with science and tech in ways that are good for us and good for society.

Ven. Chodron teaches worldwide and is known for her warm, practical, and humorous explanations of how to apply Buddhist teachings in daily life. She is an author, teacher, and the founder and abbess of Sravasti Abbey, a Tibetan Buddhist training monastery in Newport, WA. A graduate of UCLA, she ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist nun in 1977 and received full bhikshuni ordination in Taiwan in 1986. She has studied extensively with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and is currently assisting him in the writing and publication of “The Library of Wisdom and Compassion,” a multi-volume series of teachings on the Buddhist path. The sixth volume, “Courageous Compassion,” will be published in May 2021.
