Tibetan nun to speak at NIC on ‘Connecting with Integrity'

Venerable Thubten Chodron, an American nun in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, will speak on “Connecting with Integrity” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, in the Edminster Student Union Building Lake Coeur d’Alene Room on North Idaho College’s main campus.

You want to connect, but the other person’s ideas are so wrong. How do we relate to people who hold different views while staying true to our values? Ven. Chodron will share thoughts on how to connect in meaningful, authentic was with other people whose thoughts and rhetoric push our buttons.

Noted international author and teacher, Ven. Chodron is the abbess of Sravasti Abbey in Newport, Wash., She is the author of many books, including “Approaching the Buddhist Path,” which is part of a multi-volume series co-authored with the Dalai Lama. Many of her teachings are available on her website: www.thubtenchodron.org.

The presentation is free and open to the public, but donations for the abbey are welcome. Attendees are asked to arrive a few minutes early.
